Bio

Siobhan White teaches rhetoric and writing with an emphasis on thinking critically to develop evaluation skills and rhetorical awareness. In her classes, projects emphasize helping students practice critical thinking about audiences and context and how those elements shape communication. Her units frequently use popular culture and contemporary media as platforms for rhetorical analysis, and she is interested in how generational theory affects shifts in communication norms and values over time. She is also personally interested in how digital technology affects literacy, attention, and cognition, and in the role of these technologies and AI in writing, with a focus on maintaining human agency and awareness of digital environments in shaping culture. She holds two master’s degrees, one in American literature and one in Liberal Arts and Sciences and uses these interdisciplinary approaches to help students make connections across texts, media, and cultural contexts.
