Bio
As a fronteriza, Jill Holslin has lived in Tijuana, Baja California, since 2011 and she crosses the US-Mexico border constantly for life and work. She has a M.A. in Literature and Cultural Studies from UCSD and is currently studying for her MFA in Art in the School of Art & Design at SDSU.
With an interest in the relationship between text and image, the slippery meaning of images and popular mass media, Holslin uses examples from news media, clickbait, tabloids to engage students in visual rhetoric and multimodal artifacts. Her life in Mexico has given her a lot of insight into the writing processes of our student writers at San Diego State, many of whom speak and write in English as their second language
