Bio
Matt Copeland has been teaching for 25 years and has spent the last 16 years in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing Studies at San Diego State University. A San Diego native, he deeply values the opportunity to live and work in the city he loves. His scholarly interests are multidisciplinary, making RWS an ideal academic home. Matt enjoys engaging in thoughtful conversation, even when the discourse becomes spirited. Outside the classroom, he has a passion for travel—especially throughout California—and for outdoor adventures, whether running, cycling, or backpacking deep into the Sierra Nevada backcountry. He shares his life with his wife, son, and two exceptional dogs.
