Bio
Amber Anaya has been a lecturer in the Rhetoric and Writing Studies department at San Diego State University since 2015. She typically teaches Business Writing, Professional Writing, and Writing in Various Settings, though she has a passion for all things related to rhetoric.
Before joining SDSU, Amber worked in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors as a content strategist, writer, editor, and consultant. She also taught part-time at various colleges and universities throughout the San Diego area. While her work with businesses and organizations was dynamic and fulfilling, she discovered a deeper enjoyment in teaching and engaging with students—far more than working in a cubicle or boardroom. Although she occasionally takes on consulting projects, her primary professional focus is now in the classroom.
Originally from Costa Mesa, Amber has called San Diego home for nearly 20 years. She appreciates the city's vibrant communities, arts and theatre scene, and, of course, its beautiful beaches. In addition to her teaching role, she is a certified Pilates instructor and Barre Above instructor. She enjoys running, hiking, spending time in nature, and sharing life with her husband and their pets.
