Bio

Hasan Autman holds a B.A. in Linguistics, an Advanced TESL certification, an M.A. in Applied Linguistics, a Graduate Certificate in Ethnic Studies, and a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction. He has completed extensive teacher training and has taught academic composition for eight years, working with a diverse range of native and non-native English-speaking university students both in the United States and internationally.

His pedagogical philosophy is informed by the works of Paulo Freire and John Swales, grounded in the belief that academic writing empowers students with personal, political, and financial agency. Hasan's research interests include discourse and curriculum analysis as predictors of student success, corpus analysis to identify specific language patterns in particular contexts, and communicative competence research that explores hidden curriculum factors—such as classroom dynamics, instructional methods, and access to resources—that impact marginalized student populations.

Outside the classroom, Hasan is an avid fan of comic books and video games and is often found marathoning the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
