Council of Women World Leaders, and a graduate of San Diego State
University, with a degree in political science
An icon in the world of female politics, Laura Liswood had dedicated
her life to raising the visibility of women political leaders.
Through relationships with Harvard University and the Aspen Institute
she created the Council of Women World Leaders, an organization
whose members are presidents or prime ministers of their countries.
In 1997, she co-founded The White House Project, an organization
dedicated to speeding up the process of electing a woman as U.S.
President. Laura will speak and lead a discussion on exploring
the questions around the myths of leadership, and how these myths
can pose challenges for women in their leadership roles. She will
look at the best practices of excellent leaders, and the lessons
we can learn from women who have led their country. She will also
share her insights on enhancing opportunities to successfully
lead and shape one's own career.
In addition, each table at the luncheon will feature a member of the Women in Politics: Electing to Lead Honorary Committee. The Honorary Committee is comprised of women elected officials throughout the state of California who support this program. These women have successfully run for a political office and understand the importance of educating the women leaders of tomorrow. Each table at the Leadership Luncheon will include a member of the Honorary Committee, allowing them to share political experiences and advice with the attendees.
