A Celebration of John Steinbeck home page

Watching Steinbeck's Ethnic Eye/I

San Diego State University

A wide-ranging and electric overview from multiple perspectives of what happens to Ethnic Americans when they find themselves portrayed in the pages of John Steinbeck's writings and in films based on the same. Our four panelists turn their own incisive critical eyes on "Mexicans," "Chicanos," "Italians," "Italian-Americans," "Chinese," "Asian Americans," and "Caucasians," aka "White folk" as they figure in Steinbeck's oeuvre. Of interest to the general public and to students and scholars of Ethnic Studies, Literature, and Gender Studies.
