SDSU's Women's Studies Department, along with the Women's History Museum & Educational Center, UCSD's Women's Center, and the San Diego Commission on the Status of Women announces the Third Annual Induction Ceremony for the Women’s Hall of Fame Sunday, March 28, 2004, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m in the Price Center Ballroom, UCSD. The ceremony honors the 2004 Inductees: *Rulette Armstead, Assistant Chief of Police. The first woman and first African-American Captain of the San Diego Police Department. *Herminia Acosta Enrique (Techitzin), writer and dancer, founded Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan and Centro Cultural de la Raza. *Doris A. Howell, M.D., Professor Emeritus, UCSD, a pioneer in pediatric hematology, oncology, and community medicine. *Joan Kroc (1928–2003) a philanthropist and peace activist. *Gloria E. McClellan (1925-2002) Councilwoman and Mayor of Vista for 29 years. *Jean Stern, an activist and educator, founded the Older Women’s League, San Diego. *Mary B. Maschal (1924–1998) Co-founder, the Women’s History Reclamation project
